LINDY Extends USB Connections to 56m with No Performance Loss

We announced today the launched of our USB 2.0 Active Extension System Pro, a range of products which can extend USB connections up to 56m without sacrificing USB 2.0's high speed performance of 480 Mbps data transfer. Traditionally, achieving distances longer than the standard 5m cable was only possible using Cat5 extenders, which can result in some degradation in speed and signal strength when using it for high performance devices.

Ideal for using with multimedia equipment, the extension cables are available in lengths of 8m and 12m and can include a 4 port USB hub at one end. Starting with the 8m extension cable, the leads daisy chain together to create overall lengths of 8m, 20m, 32m, 44m and 56m. The extension cable and USB hub are bus powered and can support kit up to 100mA. For devices requiring a higher output, LINDY supplies a multi-country power adapter that simply plugs into the hub.

The USB Cat5 extender has been one of our most popular products, but we recognised that in some applications where the device needs to operate at maximum performance it was too restrictive. The active extension cables solve this issue by enabling data transfer between connected USB devices at true USB 2.0 speeds, even over long distances.

The LINDY USB 2.0 Active Extension Pro can be used with Windows ME/2000/XP & Vista, Linux and Mac OS 10 & above, and is fully USB 2.0 compliant and backwards compatible with USB 1.1. All extension cables are designed to lock together to ensure secure installation.
