Local and Remote Unit of the extender are connected using a value for money network cable Cat.5 UTP or STP with a length of up to 50m. The USB Extender should be connected to its own USB port on the PC without additional extenders, hubs or ♠devices.
The USB Extender is used to extend distances between computer and USB devices up to 50m. It consist of a local unit (with USB Type A connector, computer side) and a remote unit (device side with built-in USB Type A socket).
Standard network cables up to 50m length (category 5 or higher) are used.
The USB extender generates a USB signal delay in relation to the STP / UTP cable length:
20m - for 2 Hubs
30m - for 3 Hubs
50m - for 5 Hubs
The USB standard allows for a maximum of 5 Hubs between PC and device Take this into account when installing the USB extender. For this reason, when using a 50m long connection cable, usually no additional hub or active extension is needed. One hub is supported when using a 40m cable.
The USB extender should be connected directly to its own USB port on the PC.
The USB extender does not report to the USB bus - therefore it is not controlled by the PC and operating system! Users therefore need to take into consideration all of the above constraints - otherwise a malfunction ,may arise!
